Swimming at Broken Beach: read this first

Broken Beach is a cliff-top viewpoint over a coastal cove. There is no verified safe way down to the water, and the cove should not be treated as a swimming beach.

Why it is not a swimming spot

The attraction is the rock arch and the circular cove seen from above. The map listing we checked gave no authorised descent, and old photos do not establish a safe route to the water.

Sea conditions are not a permit

Calm-looking water, a low-tide reading or a regional sea-level model does not make entry safe. The model data on this site is regional, not a cliffside measurement, and is never a water-entry guarantee.

If you want to swim nearby

For actual swimming, look at separate, genuinely swimmable beaches and confirm conditions locally. Broken Beach is best enjoyed from the viewing level.

  • Stay on permitted paths and behind barriers.
  • Never climb down unprotected cliff faces.
  • Check a different, verified swimming beach if swimming is your goal.

QUESTIONS
